Dehydration protection assay

At Marinomed we specialize in Dehydration protection assays to evaluate how well formulations preserve moisture in both cells and tissues.  With our in vitro cell-based assay and ex-vivo assays using porcine tissue e.g. cornea or nasal mucosa, we provide critical insights into the hydration and protective capabilities of different formulations. These targeted assays enable you to assess the hydration potential of your products early in the R&D process, ensuring optimal performance for your intended applications.

This assay is a valuable tool for assessing cellular resilience and optimizing protective treatments, especially for formulations aimed at preventing dehydration-related damage.

Cell viability and activity is assessed through a metabolic assay, providing insights into the effectiveness of the treatment. Additionally, morphological changes can be evaluated by staining the cells with actin (green) and DAPI (blue), enabling detailed visualization of structural alterations.

Protective treatments against dehydration-induced damage to ocular tissues are evaluated by staining the treated and dehydrated eyes with fluorescein, a fluorescent dye that highlights areas of tissue damage. This method provides a clear, visual assessment of the effectiveness of different treatments, offering valuable insights for optimizing formulations designed to preserve ocular health under dehydration stress.
