Permeation assay

At Marinomed we offer a range of permeation assays to evaluate the absorption and penetration characteristics of your formulations across various biological barriers. Supporting product development for various delivery systems.

Parallel artificial membrane permeability assay (PAMPA) provides a fast and reliable in-vitro method to assess the permeation potential of various compounds. This cell-free system mimics biological membranes, and is customized for specific barriers, including the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), blood brain barrier (BBB), and skin. It offers a quick and efficient screening tool to evaluate diffusion and permeability, helping in optimizing formulations in early development.

For more realistic assessment, we offer ex-vivo permeation testing using porcine tissues, such as eye (cornea, conjunctiva, aqueous humor, sclera, vitreous, retina…), nasal mucosa (cavity, septum), stomach (fundus, corpus) and oral cavity (lingual, buccal mucosa) tissues. These models closely simulate human tissue properties, allowing to evaluate how well formulations penetrate and get absorbed through sensitive biological barriers.

Whether you are developing ocular, nasal, gastrointestinal, or oral products, these assays help ensure the effectiveness of your formulations under more physiological conditions.
